Buddy Not Bully
JCI Bandar Klang, Malaysia
When a young man took his life as the result of bullying, JCI Bandar Klang realized they needed a proactive approach dealing with youth bullying. They found that 84% of children in their community had experienced some type of bullying. JCI Bandar Klang wanted to address the lack of exposure to the issue and generate a support system for struggling youth people. The Buddy Not Bully Project grew into a nationwide campaign that encouraged Malaysians to talk about the importance of promoting peace and positivity to young people. Through media appearances, interactive volunteer events and digital media assets, JCI Bandar Klang inspired peace in their community and raised awareness about the escalating problem of bullying among young people.
