Eat Well for Health
JCI Peninsula, Hong Kong
JCI Peninsula’s Eat Well for Health program was developed after a survey revealed high amounts of sodium intake in the population. JCI Peninsula worked with the Department of Health and the food industry to produce low sodium meal options for local schools and community centers.70 food caterers and eight restaurant chains located in all 18 districts of Hong Kong formed the Low Sodium Alliance, which holds a monthly Low Sodium Day on the 15th of every month. Four workshops helped over 1200 participants and health professionals make healthier dietary habits. JCI Peninsula wanted to encourage children to adopt healthy eating habits at an early age. JCI Peninsula sought the advice of medical professionals, nutritionists and dieticians as well as high-profile community members to ensure that their program was well researched and reached the maximum amount of people.
