So, let’s dive further into some of the Conference’s exciting details!
Technology – Innovative Opportunities and Crisis Solutions – the 2021 Conference Theme
The theme of technology and how leaders can utilize it in creative ways during crises is more important than ever with the lasting effects of COVID-19 on global modern society. With the JCI RISE initiative created in July 2020 by Immediate Past President Itai Manyere, JCI recognizes the need to directly address the pandemic and the duty that young leaders have to sustain and rebuild economies, empower the workforce and preserve mental health and well-being. A leader must rise not only when the world is peaceful, but most importantly in times of crisis when it is easy for others to feel lost. JCI Africa and the Middle East understands the dire need for new solutions and has created a conference committed to these ideals through their own engaging sessions, keynote speakers and JCI’s new innovative platform, the JCI Virtual Community.
Virtual Grand Slam Award Conference
Along with the Conference will be a return of the Grand Slam Award! This “Virtual Grand Slam” award will be given to JCI members who attend all four online Area Conferences this year, and will be honored with perks such as:
- A Virtual Grand Slam Certificate presented at the 2021 JCI World Congress
- All Virtual Grand Slammers will be entered into a drawing for a free registration to the 2022 World Congress
- In addition to the virtual certificate, Grand Slammers this year will receive an exclusive Video Conference background, which will let them proudly display their dedication to JCI
So if you’ve already registered for the 2021 JCI European Conference and attended the 2021 JCI Conference of America, you don’t want to miss out on this one either!
The Creative Young Entrepreneur (CYE) program comes Full Circle
A fresh, new competition, the Creative Young Entrepreneur program was first established at the 2020 JCI Africa and the Middle East Conference! Originally titled the Africa and the Middle East Entrepreneurship Competition, it was held with resounding success! And now, finally in 2021 the CYE program is coming back home right where it all started. This international competition has been recreated from the ground up to encourage, honor and celebrate exceptional young entrepreneurs and the role of innovation in their entrepreneurial climb to global success.
Additionally, thanks to the support of 2021 JCI President Ryubun Kojima, there is now a $5.000 USD prize available for the first place CYE winner at the Africa and the Middle East Conference. The second-place CYE winner will receive a free registration to the 2022 Area Conference, and the top three contestants will get the opportunity to pitch at the global CYE finals at the 2021 JCI World Congress in November and possibly win the $10.000 USD grand prize! Combined with the valuable training and mentorship all CYE contestants receive, this program delivers outstanding return on investment for an aspiring entrepreneur.
Vital Networking Events
It wouldn’t be a classic JCI Area Conference without the ability to engage in lively networking sessions with people from across the world! Even though we can’t meet in person for this event, Speed Networking will be hosted by our close partner Business Network International (BNI) in order to facilitate interaction between conference attendees. It is vastly important that members do not just learn within their own cultural networks and build an accidental echo chamber. Instead, what makes us truly strong is that by networking we can build a diversity of opinions and of experiences.
Even though these networking events will not be in person, members will still be able to experience online connection with a sense of naturalism with the structured and time small groups emulating the natural ebb and flow of networking movement.
Exclusive Conference Organizing Committee (COC) Content
With passion and ingenuity, the organizing team members have done it again and created programs that are guaranteed to engage members on all levels. From “Big Data: Blockchain Panel Discussion” to “Innovation at the Time of Crisis: Gender Equality and Social Inclusion,” the 2021 COCs have laid the groundwork for young entrepreneurs to succeed in the emerging post-pandemic world. A sneak peek of some more of these programs includes:
- Partnership and Entrepreneurship Panel Discussion
- Inspire Us – JCI members from Africa and Middle East Narrate their stories of resilience and hope at a time of crisis.
- Evening Party: Jordanian Night
- Innovation at the time of Crisis: One Green Future
